1. Who we are
hwprice (https://hwprice.net) is operated by Yaz Labs (“we”, “us”). We act as the data controller for personal data processed through this website, unless stated otherwise below. Yaz Labs is part of Yaz Labs (https://yazlabs.com).
2. What this site does
hwprice is a price-comparison and information service for PC parts. We are not a retailer. Purchases are made on third-party shops; their privacy policies apply when you leave our site.
3. Personal data we process
- Account data (optional): if you sign in with Google — name, email address, profile picture, and a stable Google user ID, as returned by Google.
- Watchlist & preferences: products you save, alert settings, and email-notification preference linked to your account.
- Session data: an HttpOnly cookie (
eu_session) to keep you signed in. - Technical data: IP address, browser type, and request logs may be processed by our hosting provider for security and operation (short retention).
- Contact messages: if you use our contact form, Google Forms processes what you submit (see Google’s privacy policy).
- Cookie consent: your choice stored locally in your browser (
localStorage).
4. Legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)
- Contract / steps at your request: account, watchlist, and sign-in when you choose to use those features.
- Legitimate interests: operating and securing the service, displaying public product data, affiliate link attribution, and improving the site.
- Consent: non-essential cookies (e.g. Google Fonts), and any optional marketing if we introduce it later.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data to comply with law.
5. Google Sign-In
We use Google Identity Services. Google processes your sign-in and returns a token we verify server-side. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can revoke access in your Google Account settings.
6. Email notifications
If enabled on this server, we may send watchlist price-drop emails and optional Reddit deal digests via our email provider (e.g. Brevo). We process your email address and alert preferences for that purpose. You can turn alerts off in your account or contact us.
7. Affiliate links & retailers
Links to Amazon and other retailers may include affiliate tracking parameters. Retailers may set their own cookies when you visit them. We do not control third-party sites.
8. Retention
- Account and watchlist data: until you delete your account or ask us to erase it, then within 30 days unless law requires longer.
- Session cookies: up to 30 days (configurable on the server).
- Server logs: typically up to 90 days.
- Contact form responses: per Google’s and our operational retention practices.
9. Your rights
If you are in the EEA/UK, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, and port your data, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
To exercise your rights, contact us via our contact form. We respond within one month where GDPR applies.
10. International transfers
Our hosts or providers may process data outside the EEA. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses) offered by those providers.
11. Children
hwprice is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal data.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Material changes may be highlighted on the site.
